Akiko Jackson is from Kahuku, a rural North Shore community on the island of Oahu, Hawai'i. From 1999-2007, Akiko lived in Los Angeles and San Francisco to focus her studies in the arts. After receiving a Master of Arts degree from California State University, Northridge, she moved to Richmond, Virginia where she received her Master of Fine Arts degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She currently resides on the east coast, USA.
Akiko has exhibited her work nationally and internationally, most notably at the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia, Virginia Beach, VA; the American Museum of Ceramic Art, Los Angeles, CA; Orange County Center for Contemporary Art, Santa Ana, CA; 1708 Gallery, Richmond, VA; the 4th World Ceramic Biennale Korea, Republic of Korea; and the Australian International Ceramics Triennale, Sydney Australia.
